Lemons & Skin
There are plenty of DIY recipes on social media recommending lemon juice as a cheaper alternative to Vitamin C serum. However, just because something is ok to eat or drink doesn’t mean it’s safe to put directly on your skin. One scary complication that can occur when you mix lemon juice with sunlight is phytophotodermatitis, aka margarita burn. You could end up with burns, blisters, and more, especially if you step out in the sun after applying the juice to your skin. So, in short, stick with lemon in your food and drinks and don’t rub it on your face.
