What is Beautiful?
What does it mean to be beautiful? This question has prompted much philosophical literature on the topic because beauty standards have differed widely throughout history and across cultures. During ancient Egyptian times, beautiful women were described as slender, with narrow shoulders and a high waist. In ancient Greece, the ideal woman was depicted as full-bodied and plump. However, if you were to travel 7,000 kilometers from Greece to China, you would find a culture where bound feet were considered beautiful. 100 years from now, it's interesting to think about which beauty standards will have passed out of fashion and what beauty fashions will be in vogue in the future.
