Sulphates

Heard of it? It's an ingredient added to shampoos, toothpaste, foaming facewashes, and body washes to increase their effectiveness by helping them lather up or foam up. The controversy surrounding them has to do with sodium lauryl sulphate, and how it can be a skin irritant for individuals with sensitive skin. However, because sulphates are typically added to wash-off products, they aren't meant to sit near the skin for any prolonged amount of time. For most individuals, sulphates in ingredients are not a problem. But for those who have severe sensitive skin issues, this is an ingredient you might want to avoid.
